Our climbers are back home. They arrived in the late evening of the 24th August. Pictures of the welcome are presented soon.

	Back home, 23.-25.6.2001 After passing the Debriefing the luggage has to be prepared for sending. On 24th August, we arrive at Berlin in the evening.
	Skardu-Islamabad, 18.-20.8.2001 We have a wonderful flight to Islamabad passing the Nanga Parbat. After arriving, we do some shopping and learn a lot about red-tapism.
	To Skardu, 16./17.8.01 By foot, later by Jeep, we go to Skardu. Lydia and Olaf treat a eight years old boy who suffers from diphtery in Hushe.
	Departure, 14./15.8.01 The whole equipment was packed into tons. After having a Farewell party with the Spanish expedition, we depart towards the Gondoro pass.
	Pulling down camp 1, 13.8.01 Lydia, Christian and the kitchen boy pull down camp 1, the others begin with packing up for depart.
	giving up at Hidden Peak, 10.8.-12.8.01 Markus and Olaf have to give up to summit the Hidden Peak because of storm and snow. Lydia and Ralf return to the base camp.
	First ascents to the Hidden Peak, 8.8.-10.8.01 Markus and Olaf start to summit the Hidden Peak. Ralf and Lydia give up at G II because of bad weather and pull off the tents at G II with Christian.
	Base camp/camp 2, 5.8.-7.8.01 Markus and Christian return to the base camp, wheras Lydia and Ralf start a second attempt for summiting the GII.

	Markus and Christian summited the G II, 04.08.01 Christian and Markus Walter reached the summit of Gasherbrum II. Congratulations!!!

	Its getting on!, 30.7.01 Divided into 3 groups, we want to summit the GII. Olaf has already started today.
	Waiting for better weather, 23.-29.7.01 Heavy snow keeps us staying in the base camp. However, there are many rare birds here, and, therefore, a lot of diversion.
	building up camps, 19.-23.7.01 Camp 2 (6550m) and 3 (7000m) are ready. A giant avalanche destroys parts of the base camp. Fatal accident at a Belgian expedition.
	Camp 1 consolidated, 15./16.7.01 Markus and Christian ascend to camp 1. The snow fall reveals the great advantage of having skies.
	In the base camp, 13./14.7.01 We can not ascent to camp 1 again because of bad weather. Our base camp becomes an international center of communication.
	Camp 1 established, 11./12.7.01 Lydia, Ralf and Olaf build up camp 1 in 5900 meters altitude.
	1st ascent, 10.7.01 We carry some stuff for camp 1 to an intermediate depot. For slow adapatation, we only ascent to 5500 m.
	Setup of the Base Camp, 8./9.7.01 We setup our base camp and farewell our accompanying trekking group.
	At the Base Camp, 7.7.01 After two short stages we arrive at the place of the basecamp and pay the porters.
	At Concordia Place, 5.7.01 We pass the Chongolisa, and arrive at Concordia place with its unique scenery. In the afternoon, we have sunny weather and exciting views to the K2.
	Trekking Urdukas-Gore, 4.7.01 We continue our way on the Baltoro Glachier, already on 4320 m altitude, and see the Gasherbrum group for the first time though it is still 20 km away.
	Trekking Paiju-Urdukas, 3.7.01 We reach the giant Baltoro Glacier, pass the Trango Towers and arrive at Urdukas. Lydia has to do several treatments as a "surgeon".
	Trekking Askole-Pajiu, 30.6.-2.7.01 We go to Pajiu in two days where traditionally a one-day-rest is made. When crossing a river, we loose our egg ration completely.
	By Jeep to Askole, 29.6.2001 After passing some difficult spots, we arrived in Askole.
	From Chilas to Skardu, 27.6.2001 We leave the Karakorum Highway, pass the Nanga Parbat and follow the river Indus to Skardu.
	On the Karakoram Highway, 26.6.2001 Briefing succesful. We are travelling by bus on the Karakoram Highway.
	The 2nd day in Islamabad, 23.6.2001 We are waiting for our luggage. Difficulties in getting stamps.
