Urdukas-Gore, 4.7.01

Our fourth Trekking stage led us from Urdokas to Gore II. Unfortunately, it was still rainy, but the sun came out from time to time and some peaks appeared through the clouds: Uli Biaho Tower, Great Trango Tower, Nameless Tower, Lobsang Spire, Masherbrum, Pajiu Peak, Mitre Peak and finally the Gasherbrum-Group. From our perspective the Gasherbrum IV dominated, but the Gasherbrum II was visible as well for the first time.

Masherbrum

The characteric pyramid of one of our targets was only seen for some seconds, but the first view with this 8035m high giant was like a dream. Only 20 km are between us. But this distance will take longer than the 5177 km journey from Dresden to here.

Gore II has an altitude of 4320m and we feel the first signs of thin air. Tomorrow, we will only ascent for another 300 m to ensure a slow adaption. But we will see further famous mountains: Broad Peak (with 8047m the twelfst highest mountain), the Muztagh Tower (more than 7000m high), the Chogolisa and last but not least the K2.
