Route

Our route is that of the first ascend by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay.

  1. From Basecamp (BC, 5 350 m) the route passes the dangerous Khumbu Icefall

  2. The Western Cwm is a huge valley between Lhotse and Nuptse. It is four kilometers long.

  3. The next part is the steep Lhotse face, a 1000 meters ascend until the South col.

  4. The Geneva Spur.

  5. The South col is a notch between Everest and Lhotse at an altitude of about 8000 m. It is the preferred place for the high camp.

  6. The South summit (8748 m). Just 350 m to the summit. Between both summits there is the Hillary step, a 12 meters high, vertical wall.
